Those first few days with your newborn baby are precious. I'm a mother myself, and know that every gesture and expression is more exciting than the last. I know that they grow up way too fast and that's why it's so important to document them often, especially during their first year.
We take two different approaches to newborn photo shoots, so you can choose the style you're most excited about. Lifestyle sessions are taken in your home to capture organic situations with your family that tell your authentic story. In-studio sessions put Baby in the spotlight and often include props - your own or ours. In both approaches, we'll take special care to ensure that you and your newborn are comfortable, because those memorable moments occur when you are at ease.
For newborn shoots, timing is important. The best time to photograph your newborn is 7-10 days after their arrival. Set up a complimentary consultation any time during your pregnancy (the sooner the better!) so we can start planning for Baby's first photo session. We can also start planning your Baby Bundle Collection, offering you four sessions and a custom photo album showcasing your baby story.
"Thank you so much for taking our daughter's newborn pictures. Our pictures turned out wonderful and Emmalee was so easy to work with! She had lots of creative ideas for our newborn pictures that turned out so well!" - Johnna
What happens during the consultation?
First, I will meet with you in person to get to know you and your family. I will learn about your personalities, your passions and your goals for the photo session. I'll listen to your ideas and share some of my own. We'll go through each step of the process so you will know what to expect and will feel relaxed and comfortable on the day of the session. I'll answer any questions you might have and offer tips for how you can make things go as smoothly as possible during the photography session.
When should I book my consultation?
It is best to book your consultation around 34 weeks. This will ensure that you will get a session reserved around your due date.
Do I have to pay a deposit?
During the consultation, I will work with your schedule to determine the perfect day and time for your photo session. You will pay a non-refundable deposit, sign a contract for my services and I will reserve the date for your session.
Why don't you offer mini-sessions?
Mini sessions don't allow us the time we need to produce beautiful images of your newborn and family. My newborn sessions take about 2-3 hours and there is a lot of time spent waiting on baby to eat and fall asleep. For this reason I do not offer mini sessions.
What happens after the session?
After the photographs have been taken and each image has been professionally retouched, you will experience the moment you have been eagerly awaiting. During the viewing and ordering appointment, I will show you the finished images and guide you through what could otherwise be the overwhelming experience of choosing what to purchase. I will review each shot with you, answer all of your questions, and offer my professional advice as you choose from prints, albums and other products available. I will do my part to make placing your order a fun and easy experience, and the end result will be beautiful printed works of art that you will cherish forever.
Do you offer Digital Images?
Yes, I offer a Digital Collection that includes edited images, typically 30-40 images on a wooden thumb drive with printing rights (the copyrights to the images stays with the photographer, the original creator of the images).
